The Ulaanbaatar is the oldest hotel in Mongolia and is supposedly the best. Well, yes, it might be the best but that's not to stay it is good. Very centrally located next to the Opera, a stone's throw from Sukhbaatar Square, this large block is not inviting by its architecture. It is only very recently that some of the rooms have been renovated and are now of "international" standard. The service is still feels socialist (not less due to the fact that there is a life size statue of Lenin in the forecourt) and the breakfast is not much to rejoice about but the rooms are large, most are of a good standard, the location are excellent and anyway it is all part of the experience.
