From Ulaanbaatar to Yolyn Am this four day Gobi trip encompasses many ventures that will enable you to capture the pure essence of Mongolia’s finest desert, witness the singing dunes and flaming cliffs.
The whole trip also includes a city tour of Ulaanbaatar, a camel ride at Khongorin Els and concludes with horse riding in Yolyn Am.

 

Highlights: Baga Gazariin Stone, Oasis, Tsagaan Suvarga cliff, Eagle Valley, Camel trekking & Visit a nomad family and Flaming Cliffs.

 

Day 1

Ulaanbaatar

 Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to hotel. Depending on your arrival time, overview of the city or diner and relax time.  Overnight in the hotel.  

Day 2

 

Baga Gazariin Stone

After breakfast in hotel,  We will hit the road for Baga Gazariin Chuluu which is the geographical attraction place established as natural high rocks. We will drive and hike around in the area, and visit the picturesque ruins of a small monastery and experience Mongolian untouched nature. The lunch in a restaurant on the way.  Overnight in the camp. (B+L+D)

Day3

Oasis in the Gobi
Visit to Sum Huh Burd oasis in the Gobi with a small lake by camel , which has an ancient stone fortress on an island in the center of the lake. The fortress, built in 16th century, has walls 1.5 meters thick and no roof. Stay overnight in ger camp.

Day4

 

Tsagaan Suvarga

It is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, from distance it seems to be the ruins of the ancient city. The cliff is 30 meters high and 100 meters wide. Over thousands years the wind has created this amazing structure. Overnight in ger  tourist camp. (B+L+D)

Day 5

 

 

Yolyn Am

Travel to Yolyn Am, or ‘Eagle Valley', located in the foothills of the Altai Mountains. The valley’s remnant streams create ice formations which you may find in the mouth of the valley as late as July. Visit Gobi museum and trekking through the valley. Stay overnight in ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 6

 

Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes
Drive to Khongor Sand Dunes for 5 hours. Khongor Sand Dunes is  the Mongolia’s largest sand dunes, reaching heights of approximately 300 meters and known locally as the “Singing Dunes”. Stay overnight in ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day 7

 

Camel trekking & Visit a nomad family
The two-humped Bactrian camels are very comfortable to ride as they walk slowly and gently, and you will be well supported by the humps, sitting comfortably between them. Our local guide will lead you safely through the Khongor sand dune. Visit a camel nomad family. Overnight in tent. (B+L+D)

Day 8

 

Flaming Cliffs

Bayanzag was given the name ‘Flaming Cliffs’ by paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews who was first to discover dinosaur eggs in this area in the early 1920’s. The area is now renowned worldwide for the multitude of dinosaur finds, many of which are on display at the Museum of Natural History in Ulaanbaatar. This morning you’ll take a short drive to the famous Flaming cliffs. Overnight stay in Bayanzag Camp. (B+L+D)

Day9

 

Erdenedalai

Drive to Erdenedalai soum in the Middle Gobi. Stay overnight in tourist ger camp. (B+L+D)

Day10

Ulaanbaatar

In the afternoon you will be in Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to hotel and do shopping. (B)

Day11

Ulaanbaatar

Depart from Ulaanbaatar in the morning. Flight or Train.
