They have often been suppresed and forbiden during the Socialist times but have survived this dark period of Mongolian history and are now celebrated throughout the land. The most famous of all festivals is of course the Nadaam Festival but other festivals are also worth the travel to Mongolia. The Ice Festival on Khosvgol lake is spectatular as horsemen dressed in the dress of the Mongolian Worriers race on the frozen surface of the lake. The Roaring Hooves Music Festival is also unique in the world for its doverse range of music and stunning backdrop. The Shamans regularily hold religious festivals and ceremony as well as the camel herders of the Gobi.
